Answering Your Self-Storage Questions

Can a tenant have auctions or yard sales on the property?

Absolutely no yard sales are auctions are allowed on our property. Any stored contents would need to be removed and taken off-site.

When can I move-in after renting my storage unit online?

Visit your storage unit during our convenient access hours. Rent 24/7 online and move in during regular business hours.

What’s days is the facility closed?

Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Easter. Emergency access may be granted under certain circumstances.

What type of lock requirement does the facility have?

Customers are responsible for providing a lock. We require a disc style padlock (round steel). This can be purchase at any local hardware store. Also note we are not responsible for tenants keys. Failure to provide the correct lock will result in overlock by our facility and a fee of $65.00. The overlock would be removed once the correct lock is placed.

What happens when I lock myself out of the storage unit?

In the event you misplace keys you would hire a licensed locksmith to remove the lock. A locksmith licenses must be provided before permission will be granted during regular business hours. If any damage occurs while removing the lock the damage will be billed to the account.

How do I pay my self storage bill?

For your convenience, accounts are 100% auto-billed on a valid credit or debit card. Money cards and pre-paid cards are not accepted. You can check account details using our Tenant Login portal.

Do I have to store long-term?

Of course not. Our flexible lease options allow tenants to store for a few weeks to a few years. No need to commit to any long-term contracts.

What security features do you offer?

Our facility is always being monitored 24/7 using our video cameras and electronic gate. Enter your code into the gate to get inside of the facility and to your unit. These security features allow us to maintain a safe space for our tenants and their belongings.

How do I determine what size unit to rent?

Use our handy size guide or call to speak with a manager to estimate the unit size that best meets your needs.

Do you offer vehicle storage?

Yes. We have outdoor parking spaces for RVs, boats, and campers.

Do you have any storage unit padlocks for sale?

Yes! For $21.00, we will supply a premium disc padlock and will have it in your unit at move-in.

Am I able to rent a moving truck?

We offer affordable truck rentals.

What is self storage and how does it work?

Renting a storage unit is a great solution to clear up some much-needed space at home or to hold much needed business items. All of our storage facilities offer clean, secure storage solutions at affordable prices.

How much does self storage cost?

What should I ask when comparison shopping?

What are the TOTAL move in fees, including rent and when are these due? How much notice do I need to give prior to vacating? (We do not need any notice, just let us know when you have left!).

Are there any items that I am NOT able to store?

We do not permit the following to be stored in our facility:

What is the best way to pack a unit?

Larger and more infrequently used items should go in the back of the unit. Remember to keep a walkway in the center of your unit to more easily access items. Always keep items labeled and a list of items stored, even a photo on the outside of each box will allow you to "see" what's inside.

What are some helpful tips for moving into my unit?

What is the humidity range on our humidity controlled units?

Climate-controlled storage units are generally kept between 55 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit with a base humidity of 45-55 percent.

What kind of fees should I be aware of?

A. Late Fee 1 (Day 2) $25.00

B. Late Fee 2 (Day 14) $25.00

C. Insufficient Notice Fee (Day 1 of payment decline) $15.00

D. Overlock Fee (Day 7) $35.00

E. Reverse Overlock Fee $35.00**

F. Newspaper Fees: Bills at actual cost

G. Auction Fee $75.00

H. Auction platform fees: Billed at actual cost

I. Excessive Card Change Fee $10.00

** After overlock is made both the overlock and reverse overlock apply.

Moving Truck Rental $75.00 Per Day + $0.55 per mile

Truck must be fueled up to full when returned fuel will be billed at $5.50 per gallon

Does Storage Source One Bristol provide moving services for our tenants?

No, we do not provide any moving services. Many local movers can be found with a quick google search.

Does Storage Source One Bristol provide 24 hour access to my unit?

No, we do not offer 24 hour access to tenants. If you are a commercial tenant and require access outside of regular hours. Please reach out to us via the contact form.

Does storage source one bristol require tenant insurance?

Yes, we do. All tenants are required to have a tenant protection policy. This is not optional. If you opt out of the insurance ace requirement, you must provide documentation from your insurance provider showing that stored goods are covered. If you rent a unit and do not provide this documentation, your rental will be canceled.

Does storage Source One offer moving carts to assist in placing my goods in storage?

Yes, cadets are provided right inside Door A1 on the lower level. Carts must be returned after use.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes, we do offer discounts for the following

  • Active Duty and Retired Military

  • Educator and first responder

  • New Peoples Bank employees (all locations)

  • Bristol Virginia Utility System employees

  • Bristol Casino Employees

  • College Students ( not limited to a specific school)

    • Identification may be required to receive the discounts.

  • Limit one discount per household.

Offers are limited to one use per household. The primary account holder must be the primary account holder.

Please use the Contact Us form to inquire about available discounts. Most discounts are in the form of fee waivers. Discounts are not ongoing during the rental term.

Lock Requirement

Our customers are required to provide a heavy-duty disc lock to secure their units. 

The use of an incorrect lock will result in overlock of the unit until the correct lock is placed, plus a fee.

The tenant is responsible for maintaining the lock and keys, and lock removal will be performed by our preferred locksmith at a rate of $150.
